About Us
Since 1993 Captain John and the crew of the Kathleen Jean have been providing ocean adventures for people of all ages and walks of life.
Captain John "Johnny" Pappas
Born and raised in Southern Maine Captain John has over 45 years experience plying the oceans and bays of Southern Maine. Graduating from Maine Maritime in 1989 Johnny spent over 30 years working on ocean going ships all the while still operating his own commercial and charter vessels during the fishing season. Captain John has the unique distinction of having dipped a line in the waters of every continent in the world "just to see what was there".

Shawn "Grumpy" Talbot
Shawn is a New England native and life long fisherman who loves to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with anyone that is interested. After retiring from the corporate world more than 10 years ago Shawn spends his free time on the water racking an amazing 280 plus days a year away from dry land from Maine to Florida and everywhere in between.

Nicholas "Nikko" Pappas:
Nikko grew up on the Kathleen Jean and has been passionate about fishing since he could hold a fishing rod. He began commercial tuna trips with his father at the age of 10 and began working as a mate on the Kathleen Jean at the age of 12. Nikko is a 3rd generation Maine Maritime Academy graduate working tankers and container ships throughout the world when he's not chasing tuna or working the deck of the Kathleen Jean.

The Kathleen Jean
The Kathleen Jean is a 38' Libby Downeast sportfisherman, custom built in Maine for fishing the Gulf of Maine waters. She is diesel powered and offers a full galley, including a microwave, head with a separate shower, private forward stateroom, heat and air conditioning, full tower and a huge fishing cockpit.
Equipped with modern electronics and full safety and survival gear, The Kathleen Jean will take you to the fish and back quickly and comfortably.

10/10 recommend!!! Captain John and mate Shaun were excellent. Both fun and knowledgeable and work really well together. Boat is very roomy. There were 5 of us, and they explained everything and answered all our questions really well. We took home 4 large bags of fillets. If fishing in the area again, I’ll definitely call Captain John.
